The Way of Water

June marks the arrival of Summer, the season of light, heat, and ample opportunity to unwind.

Are you ready to make the most of it?

To help make sure you don’t get burnt out by the long and hot Summer days, form a deep relationship with water over the upcoming months.  The use of water to facilitate relaxation and therapy has been part of well-being practices for hundreds of years.  If you haven’t made experiences with water part of your personal well-being practice, Summer is the perfect season to start.

Hydrotherapy, the modern term for water-based therapy, has been linked to a significant number of holistic health benefits.  A large part of your body is made up of water, so it understandable that hydrotherapy can provide a full, embodied sense of well-being to those that practice it.

The health and healing benefits of hydrotherapy are as clear as water.  Hydrotherapy:

  • Reduces muscle tension and relieves pain
  • Rehabilitate injured muscles
  • Boosts the immune system
  • Encourages detoxifications
  • Relieves stress

Sound like something you could use in your life?

Plan a stay at Skylonda this Summer to take advantage of our salt water pool, jacuzzi, saunas, and deep-tissue massages.  You are certain to experience the healing benefits listed above, plus a deep state of mental relaxation that follows immersive experiences with hydrotherapy.

What about now?

Looking to start experimenting with hydrotherapy now?  Start to play with hot and cold water.

Cold water is used to stimulate and invigorate the body, increasing your body’s internal activity.

Hot or warm water is used to calm and soothe the body, slowing down your internal processes as well as releasing and relaxing your muscles and connective tissues.

Set aside time each week to listen to what your body needs to reestablish balance.  And then do it — give yourself what you need, making sure to remain mindful of the effect it has on your mental and physical state.

Take a digital dive.

Water has such a powerful healing presence that you don’t even have to physically interact with it to experience it’s benefits.  Simply listening to or watching the way of water is good for you mind and body.  Experience it for yourself with this compilation of high definition recordings of water in its natural habitats.

We suggest playing a video that speaks to you next time you slow down to practice yoga, relax, study, meditate, or wind down to go to sleep. We are certain that you will see first hand that even a digital experience with water is enough to help you connect with a satisfying state of well-being.
